Welcome!
I am your average 30-something year old documenting her life through blogging. Inspired by the passing of my grandmother, I want the story behind my pictures captured for potential future generations to know. Having pictures of her life serves as a great memory, but context is lacking and I’d love to have been able to talk to her about them before her passing.
It also seems silly to take a million pictures for them to sit idle. The goal is to turn this blog into a personal book some day. Not, like, a published one.
Sarah Ruth is my first and middle name, very biblical and I love my name, good job mom and dad. “Seeks” comes from one of my favorite bible verses.
Matthew 7:7-11
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. f8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. g9 Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, *10 or a snake when he asks for a fish? 11 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.h “

It’s funny, there have been many times in my life where I have “asked” and “sought” but haven’t received what I want from God, but somehow I still have hope that if I just keep asking Him good things will come. Many people will try to tell me that the things I haven’t received have ended up being for “good”, and I feel that’s too pollyanna. I think that Jesus’ life was full of suffering and that sometimes he doesn’t give us what we ask because we have individual crosses to bear. And, I suppose, bearing those crosses do lead to salvation and make us holier, so you can say it is “for good”.
I say all this as if I’ve been through a lot of suffering in my life, which is completely not true. But not all lives are perfect, and I’ve had (and still have) particular struggles that I wish God could’ve just whisked away.
Aside from this, the part that resonates with me is the “seek and you shall find”. I think it’s part of my DNA; I am always driven by this feeling I need to be looking for something or figuring out something and the best moments in life come when I “find” it. I’m also active and over-achiever and very of the belief that you can do whatever you put your mind to. This whole verse emphasizes action and it is an underutilized aspect of Faith life. I believe prayer is powerful and important…but I don’t believe it ends there, I also believe we’re called to be hands of God. This verse challenges people to take an active role, and I think that’s why I love it so much.
